Matter of Perspective - 2022

Matter of Perspective is a research project proposing an interplay between physical images and spoken word, working with some of the most basic notions of dance: imagination, perception, interpretation, and representation.

Developed during a residency at Sofia Radar under the "Distance and Resistance" programme, with support from HOD and Goethe-Institut Bulgaria, the project brought together local dancers and performers in Sofia — both professionals and those without prior dance experience.

At the center of the process was a question about how bodies are seen, and what is expected from the moving body. The work investigated the relationship between emotions, images, and the body — how movement can emerge from an external image, from an internal emotion, or from the full range in between. Throughout, the process played with the boundary between what is real and what is constructed, and with the constant difference between how something is experienced from the inside and how it appears from the outside.

The project culminated in a public presentation of the research and was presented part of ACT Festival, in Toplocentrala, Sofia.
